What obstetric exams and tests will I need?
At your first prenatal exam, your doctor or midwife gives you a pelvic exam and checks your blood pressure and weight. They also take urine and blood samples for testing to confirm the pregnancy test and see if you have low iron levels (anemia) or signs of infection.
For the duration of your pregnancy, you attend regular appointments at Mesbah OB-GYN for weighing, abdominal measurements, blood pressure checks, and urine tests. You also have at least two ultrasound scans. Mesbah OB-GYN does both 3D and 4D ultrasounds on site.
You might also choose to have screenings for genetic conditions like Down syndrome and problems that could cause your baby to have abnormalities at birth.
Later on in your second trimester, your obstetrician checks your blood sugar for gestational diabetes, and near the end of your pregnancy, they test for infections that could harm your newborn.
If you’re looking for superior obstetrics services, Mesbah OB-GYN can deliver. Call their office, or book an appointment online today.
